The Director of Engineering leads the development of MuleSource’s suite of products. The aim is to deliver high quality products and provide a predictable schedule for engineering releases. You’ll be working with a highly skilled distributed and local team on both open source and closed source products. Requirements:

• Minimum 5-8+ years managing commercial enterprise software or open source software development.
  
• High commitment to excellence, collaboration and team achievement
  
• Excellent Communication skills with the ability to manage local, distributed and offshore teams.
  
• Ability to understands requirements from the market and customers while providing individual technical leadership and creativity
  
• Experience of delivering quality products on time, within constraints is vital.
  
• Expertise with Java/JEE software and technologies.
  
• An understanding of the SOA/middleware space is a must and knowledge of commercial/open source middleware products advantageous.
  
• Ability to monitor the health of all projects and lead corrective action
  
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity,, and make quick, accurate and appropriate technical decisions.
  
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Maven, Bamboo, and Confluence advantageous.
  
• Scrum is being used and working well at MuleSource, experience using this methodology is important.
  
• MS/BS in Computer Science degree (or equivalent work experience)
  
• Keep informed of the development of the industry best practices and technology especially in the SOA/middleware space

This is a key very senior technologist role on core engineering team. You thrive on taking on challenging, cutting edge design and implementation challenges, and you are able to innovate in Internet time using the latest open source technologies and tools. You write clean, efficient, maintainable code, and you are up to the challenge of 1000+ eyeballs reading your code every day. You are able to communicate extremely well to both technologists and non-technologists.

Requirements:

• Minimum 10+ years implementing and supporting complex enterprise software product development.
• Expertise with Java/J2EE software and technologies.
• Experience in developing enterprise level Java technologies in a Unix/Linux environment.
• Mastery of two or more of the following: Web Services, SOA, ESB, EAI, SaaS, MOM, and/or integration frameworks.
• Proven expertise with Spring, Tomcat, J2EE application servers (IBM, BEA, Oracle, jBoss), XML XSL, XSLT, JDBC, SQL, EJB, SOAP, REST, WSDL, JMS, MQSeries, TIBCO.
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, work in a distributed manner, and make quick, accurate and appropriate technical decisions.
• Open source contributor or open source committer experience is very useful, as is familiarity with JIRA, Maven, Bamboo, and Confluence.
